In 2007, Springfield’s Gift of Literacy earned national recognition for its outstanding community engagement and public relations. Together, we are inspiring young readers through partnership.
Golden Achievement Award
In 2007, the Gift of Literacy won the National School Public Relations Association Golden Achievement Award for exemplary public relations activities. Each year our program receives significant local media coverage and community recognition. Each winner receives a framed certificate, a letter of commendation for the district and recognition in an NSPRA publication.
NSBA Walk of Excellence and Presentation
In 2008, the National School Board Association recognized the Gift of Literacy for being an exemplary literacy program. Springfield Public Schools was selected to present the Gift of Literacy program to school board members from across the country at the 68th annual conference. The presentation highlighted Springfield’s outstanding community involvement and our district's success at encouraging literacy among the youngest readers.
